The
lake of Paladru
At
feet of the massif of the Prealps, in Chartreuse, between Lyon and Grenoble,
lake of Paladru grows longer between woody hills.
Vast stretch of water 6 km long and of a maximal
width of 1,2 km, it is Rhône glacier which formed it 20 000 years ago,
Shallow (33 m), it has however rather sloping
banks, except in some places where are beaches of Chalk lacustrine.
It is on one of these beaches where it are

Plan
of the posts showed
in 1972 by air photo.
The
palisade and the rectangular shape of a few houses on the periphery of the village
can be clearly distinguished. In the center, there is a forest of posts, sometimes
aligned. Only excavations and dendrochro-nological analyses have provided an
understanding of the organization of the houses and the duration of the occupation
periods. Photo J. Rebillard.
These
fir wood posts making up the base of the houses were driven into the ground
nearly 5000 years ago.
