Soils preparation
The
forest is brought down and trees burned before the culture of cereal, wheat
and barley; the poppy and the linen are also cultivated for the oil and the
fibers textiles.

To
clear the soil for sowing,
the Neolithic people used mattocks made of antlers 15 to 20 cm long.
This
instrument, which was solid but not powerful enough to be very efficient, did
not produce results as good as those obtained by ploughing with a swing plough.
A
handle in ash tree completes the tool which is ready to serve.
