Reconstitution
of the village in the year 18 (2652 B.C.)
According to dendrochronological analyses, as of precisely 2669 B.C., a
community settled on the southern shore of the lake covered by forest dominated
by fir trees mixed with ash, alder, beech, elm trees, etc.
The village was built in stages. First, two families built two houses with
their “lofts”; then three other families settled
there three years later, building their own houses. e village se bâtit
Two new families set up house there in 2660 B.C., probably young couples
setting up their own homes near their parents. Therefore, ten years after
the first installation, the village was occupied by seven families, or about
fifty people.
Then three families left, probably to build another village nearby. In 2651
B.C., only four families stayed for 3 to 5 years
after having rebuilt their homes which must have been threatening to fall into
ruin. These last occupants voluntarily abandoned the site shortly after 2650
B.C., bringing with them everything that could be used in their new habitat.
